Help Picking Lift Kit
Hi, I have decided to put a lift kit on my bone stock 2003 CC DS and there are many choices. Did a search and found some information put need some opinions. I need to be able to drive in the garage when done and right now have about 8" of clearance. The 2 options I am considering are Jake 3" spindle lift with 20x10x10 tires or the All Sports 4" double "A" arm kit with 22x11x10 tires. They end up being the same price in the end. I also may want to add a rear seat kit at some point and that would require heavier rear spring which could add to the height and may put me real close to hitting the garage door?? Which kits are better and easier to install?? I know it is my decision in the end but looking for opinions from guys who have done this before and what to watch out for. Thanks Steve

Re: Help Picking Lift Kit
If you alot of offroad driving you may want to steer clear of spindle kits, they don't take much abuse I hear. I put the AllSports 6" double A-arm on mine and it was easy and I love it.
Also, you don't necessarily need heavier springs in order to run a backseat. I plan on getting a back seat but I don't plan on replacing my stock springs. They ride too nice. I've read about guys on here who say that the heavy springs can stiffen the ride up to the point of discomfort. Might not be a big deal if you're not driving it offroad, but I'm always driving all over all kinds of bumpy offroad terrain. Plus, I had 6 guys on my cart a few weeks ago (three hanging off the back) and the cart didn't appear to sag as much as I would have expected. |

Re: Help Picking Lift Kit
I have a back seat, and stock springs....and it rides fine and no sagging, I wouldn't to heavy springs unless you do a lot of serious off roading.....
Steve, something else you could think about, is if the lift you want puts you to close to the top of the garage door or the cart won't fit because its to tall.....CHOP IT! Take some out of the uprights for the top and lower it. |

Re: Help Picking Lift Kit
Thanks for the information guys. Nice to know rear springs are not needed for the most part when adding the rear seat. This make my decision much easier. Will probably go with the all sports 4" a arm kit and 22x11x10 tires. Steve

I had 7 people on my cart last night (4 on the back) and it did great. Not a ton of sag...but lots of SWAG...lol

Re: Help Picking Lift Kit
Ended up ordering the All Sports Super Sport 4" double "A" arm lift and a set of 22x11x10 wheels and tires. Hope to have this stuff by the end of the week and maybe start installing next weekend. Thanks for the help Steve

Re: Help Picking Lift Kit
Received my wheels/tires and the lift kit. Started to install the lift kit last night and looks pretty straight forward (no instructions included but got them from there web sight). Will post some pics when done. Maybe later this week. Steve

Re: Help Picking Lift Kit
Well the lift kit and new wheel/tires are put on. Still have to align it and looks to have positive camber right now and steering wheel is off. The one problem I had was broke a ground strap from the starter to the body. They really should but that in the instructions to disconnect that ground before starting the rear. The ground seems to be to short now but works and will be looking to get a longer one. Pics will be coming soon. Steve

Re: Help Picking Lift Kit
Got the alignment set up and was able to take some pictures of it before and after the lift. I will be doing the body over the winter. I am pleased with how it came out. Here are some pics. Steve
