Question Off road cart help ?

Ok guys I'm trying to sell my electric EzGo on Craigslist, when I do I'm going to buy an older gas models cart so I can lift it 4-6" and run 22" tires. So my question is what's the best cart to be looking for ? I've done a lot of reading and it seems everyone has their own opinions but I'm looking for things like " don buy th g9 yamaha they are expensive to mod. " or I live in Minnesota and we have 40 acres of woods and feilds and trails to ride on but it is pretty hilly. So I'm sure the clutch will need to be upgraded first thing, but what are good motors to look at ? Brands? Anything you can offer as help is appreciated

The Yamaha motors are good and so are the Ezgo Subarus, I prefer the later 350cc 4 stroke.

I'd look for a 4 stroke cart so you wouldn't have to be mixing fuel or concerned about the oil injection pump going bad. The yamahas are great carts and aren't too expensive to modify.

I was thinking yamaha was the way to go this time, we have several EzGo carts and its time for new blood. But I've read that the motors are only 8.5 hp or so, is this enough? Lift kit and tires gonna drag it down like a turtle?

The one in my avatar is stock engine and it runs about 20 mph with me and the wife on it across our field and worst case you can always throw a clone in it if you need more.

Just for the info I weigh in at about 340 and the wife is about 140 so we're pushing about 500 lbs on the cart.

Hope that helps.

They are about 9.5 hp, but if you put a 420 clone in it seems like double. Now can get 440 clones. I would get a cut secondary sheave or have yours cut, that gives a lower initial gear for take off or towing/etc. Also can get a 1 1/4 wide belt especially if the clutches are worn. Make sure the clutches are clean and lubed and working right. You can put a torque kit in it, I prefer the umax spring. Be careful of ebay torque kits get one recommended on here. You will not need that until you lift it and get large tires on. G2 does have a rev limiter in the ignition should you take the governor off. You can rewire it for a G9 ignitor that does not have one, but they tend to be expensive and you don't get much more speed. I got 30mph gps out of my G9 on 22s, 28mph on dirt drives. Got 32 with a clone but got there way faster, just pulled 37mph on pavement with my clone after some mods, the bugs started to hurt when they hit my face lol. But I don't ride it that fast anyway, just testing it. Yamaha are a quality cart aside from a few detail things, like faulty wiring connections with age.
