Will my big block EZGO hang with UTVS?
Here is my new to me EZGO. Cart is a blast and had good ground clearance. I got this cart because golf carts are legal on the streets at our beech house and our homestead. Plus the back seat is awesome for our two little ones.
At the off-road park last weekend the golf cart did better in the sand than a polaris ranger and Suzuki king quad (when they were in 2WD) I use to have a tricked out Grizzly and know this cart will not do what it did. But I would like to surprise my buddies at the off-road park with this cart. Any suggestions to improve what I have? Will this belt system take SOME mud and water without major slipage? Motor has plenty of power and tires work excellent. Biggest issue I am seeing is the last pic. Exposed brake, and control lines for rear end. Not sure if I can flip the control lines but brake cable should be easy enough. Cart does needs a skid plate though. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Will my big block EZGO hang with UTVS?
When the belt gets wet = slipage. Most of the ATV/UTV all have enclosed belts which protect them somewhat. I've had my 700 polaris with nothing but the handle bars above water with no problem but I've hit water real fast and got water in the belt breather and had to drain the side cover and dry the belt out. Just my 2 cents!!!!!

I am sure it will slip and not move the cart at all submerged. More or less wondering if splashing in mud, water ect will do it. Thought about converting it to a chain but they ride like crap compared to a belt and are noisy.

look up the skid plate another member just made for his cart.possibly try and design a sheet metal cover of some sort that could house the belts some how

Re: Will my big block EZGO hang with UTVS?
I've had my cart with water over the belt in water and it sucks it will slip bad I was able to get out by holding it on the floor it had enough tension to get it rolling, it was moving but only like 2 or 3 mph, and it didn't run worth a crap with water and mud all up in the flywheel and coils I have a few carts so I'm thinking about selling one of mine and getting a ranger crew.(got a big family)
