I don't have one now but had one in the past and if I was going to add a back seat it would be a flip , no question about it. you don't know how much you will use it until you have it .

I've had both. The fold down flat surface is very handy for hauling stuff around.

Okay what about the question about the durabilitiy of the rear seat as in what is it made of ?. Theres 2 choices of flip styles ,the diamond plate and the other choice what looks to be plastic. what im trying to gigure out is why is the diamond plate 100$ more than.the regular black "plastic" looking seat. Another thing.is the dp model has what seems to be a lip that comes up at the back of the bed when.the seat is fliped.vs the plastic which does not seem to have that

I have a williamson flip seat. It has plastic backing. It's great to be able to flip the seat and haul sh_t around when you need to or have a few friends hop on the back and cruise the 'hood. Seat belts are a must if you have kiddo's.
It's kinda like buying your first truck...you really don't know what you've been missing until you get it.
I did put a few furniture pads on the plastic so that it doesn't smack together when empty and riding rough terrain. My one upgrade is to spray it with a bed liner to not have it so slippery and eliminate the smacking issue.

I bought the diamond plate. The decision is yours. If you know you will just use a seat - don't buy the flip down. I use mine down as much as I do the seat. I am always hauling stuff around. Backlash of buying permanent seat - it becomes a 4 person hauler only.
