Limiting body roll, yamaha drive
I have a 2009 Yamaha drive with Jakes 6" spindle lift kit and 12" wheel w 23" tires. When I'm riding by myself don't notice it too much but put 2-3 average size people on it and body roll is terrible. I worry about it getting out of control easily and flipping at 15+ mph. Is there any way it can be made to not roll as bad? All upgrades were don't by dealer and it already has a jakes sway bar across the back of frame. I do fine with it I'm just thinking about someone driving it and not being prepared for the body roll, like my kids. Suggestions????

Re: Limiting body roll, yamaha drive
Stiffer springs and shocks will help, but set you back some coin. Is there a way to use coil overs? You can set up coil overs any way you want if you do some searching. A larger diameter sway bar? Might call Jakes and ask them about it since it has their product on it. Worth a shot. Also, add some 2" wheel spacers all around, that will give it better stability.

Re: Limiting body roll, yamaha drive
Its mostly the rear you need to work on, more spring makes it ride harder but better for roll and better for large loads. Remember a cart is only around 600lb dry so you take 3 adults you might have as much weight as the cart itself. The sway bar should help a lot, find out if it can be adjusted tighter. Pachanga on here made one for his cart and was going to sell them, thinking it was not a drive but you can ask him about it. You can angle the shocks inward at the top to help, but people usually do that when they modify the suspension. Try running 8-15 psi in the tires, pressure can change how they react a lot. Try more pressure in just the rears or front or all. Make sure you don't have a lot of toe in with the front tires it will make the steering very sensitive, I run mine straight it is much calmer at speed. Got my cart up to 37gps the other day, but being a G9 it has a swingarm rear that does not lean. If you lift a wheel then I would be shopping for spacers. My cart is not that high but has 22s, on 8" wide wheels they are 3+5 offset. Most wheels are 3+4 so I have an extra inch on the outside. Stock wheels should not be run with a big lift (4" or more IMHO) unless you put spacers on.
