Lifted 1990 Club Car Snubber Question
Can anyone tell me how the inner frame snubber should rest on the frame (or maybe it shouldn't)? When I got my cart both rear springs were broke and the snubber was MIA. I lifted the cart 6" and I am trying to figure out how to relocate the snubber, but I have no reference. Without a load on the cart does the snubber have any tension on it at all? If so, how much? Is there an "air gap"? If so, how much? Any help would be appreciated, I will be making a lift block or drop box for it soon.

Re: Lifted 1990 Club Car Snubber Question
with the rubber snubber on the tab, it should just be resting on the lower pad. Here's how I did it.
after lift, before I made the drop bracket. best pic I could find. Basically just a box bolted to the old aluminum tabs that used to retain it. |

Yeah, I have not decided between the dropped box option or what you suggest, Springbok. My decision will probably be largely based on what scrap steel I have laying around!

Yeah I'm not a welder, so I chose the option that required...no welding.

Re: Lifted 1990 Club Car Snubber Question
The main reason I made the drop box was to keep things away from the valve cover for clearance so it could be serviced or upgraded easily. Matter of fact, I just got a spare cylinder head last night and will be porting it tonight :D

Re: Lifted 1990 Club Car Snubber Question
Porting at home....brings back memories of when I was a kid. I used to port go kart engines at home. I remember at one point I so excessively ported one of the engines that it had almost zero power off the line, but the top end was ridiculous!! You could hear the gas being sucked into the carb at top speed. I don't know how fast it really was, but it felt like a lightening bolt.......until the connecting rod decided to exit the engine block! LOL At least in those days you could get a used Briggs 5hp for around $20-30. Probably my first lesson in "speed costs money". I never really learned my lesson.
