Default Club car ds lift kit questions

I have been lurking for a while and have been looking into parts I want to install on my newly acquired 97 Club Car DS. I ordered the rear seat, headlights, cable upgrade and so on. I have a set of 22x11-10 wheels and tires I will be installing but I am having a hard time choosing between lifts.

I can't go any higher than 6" due to my garage door height. I was looking into the trademark cart lift kit which is an A-Arm kit w/ hd rear springs for $200 or I was also looking into the Jake's 6" spindle lift kit for $249 w/no springs.

I know the Jake's is highly regarded on this forum but it is more expensive and does not contain the rear hd springs. Would I even need them if I'm just hauling passengers around? I will be installing a set of automotive shocks once I lift it. I won't be doing any off-road adventures with it and will mainly be used to drive around the community/kids to school and such.

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I am ready to go as far as building it but this remains my lone question. Thanks in advance.

IMO, go with the A arm. The HD rear leaf springs will help out when the rear seat is full!

For street driving and just getting it up in the air, go for the cheaper a-am lift. If your actually off roading, go for the Jakes long travel...

Springs help with weight. 2 kids weigh 100-150 lbs. and they grow in size and have friends. 2 golf bags weigh 25 lbs. Clear?
Shocks keep the rubber to the road, preventing wheel bounce, and do nothing for weight mgmt, except for coil-overs. I think you're over thinking this. For what you stated the cart would be used for, do the A arm with HD rear springs. You will be satisfied. If you don't like the rear springs, go with the shocks you speak of. The best thing about golf carting is there is no wrong answer or way to set up your cart as long as you are happy with it! Have fun.

I think you're right scotter. I tend to over think and research a lot before I make purchases. Thanks for the inputs and I will be purchasing the trademark kit today. I can't wait to get started and I will definitely post pics once that happens.

I just installed the Trademark combo wheels & lift kit. I am not pleased with the ride quality at all, the springs are EXTREMELY stiff. I didn't think I would mind & since my rear springs were shot I figured why not but the ride is really horrible. Another interesting thing that I noticed is that the front end sits higher than the rear, possibly due to the upper control arms contacting the bolts that the front spring uses to bolt the frame. I've considered notching the control arms but don't want to affect the strength. This is just a campground cruiser so I while I don't need articulation I did hope for a smoother ride.

If you put in a 4 leaf HD rear spring, then the ride is supposed to be stiff, as those springs are made for carrying weight, not providing a soft ride. I am only referring to the rear springs.

I believe that kit also comes with a double leaf front spring. Remove one leaf and it helps. As for the rear I know a lot of people that AREN'T carrying back seat passengers remove the extra leafs for a better ride. But don't do it if you carry people!
