Default slime question ???

went hunting in south texas, last weekend. the cart we took kept getting flat tires,(catus everywhere) so we went to the local parts store and bought 4 big bottles of slime, only had to air up one tire after that. will this hurt the tires in the long run?????, did notice that at high speeds, the cart was bouncy is the best way to describe it. taking my cart next weekend, so was wondering if i should do the same right from the rip???? my cart goes almost 10 mph faster than his, so the out of balance caused from the slime bothers me a bit, hoping someone will have a better solution????

thank ppc

Slime and similar products are intended to be a temporary fix in emergency situations. Do not leave that stuff in your tires any longer than necessary. Also, if you take your tires to a tire shop for repair or replacement let them know the Slime is in them. Fix-a-Flat is known for being combustible and has caused injuries to tire techs when removing a tire containing it.

The balance issue is caused from the fluid rolling around inside the tire and the uneven dried clumps. Anything inside the tire will cause the tire to be unbalanced, hence the vibration. The same thing happens in car tires.

You could install tubes, but they will still be prone to damage from the cactus punctures. If you are going to drive in areas with cactus and other items that can puncture your tires you should consider tires that are stronger and less likely to go flat. Look at the ply rating on tires and their ability to run flat. I have Super Swamper Vampires, and they are designed to run flat in the case of a puncture. My tire tread is not suitable for all situations, but the company makes other tread patterns. Check into atv tires and look for durability comparisons.

South texas tires get eat up with thorns. They will puncture tractor tires front and back. Slime is almost a must. We slime atvs and slimed our stock golf cart. On shredding tractors, people run airplane tires, foam fill and ect when running over brush.

Maybe you need a set of slimed tires for hunting and a set of nice tires for town. Like work shoes and dress shoes.

Good Luck.

I had a 3 wheeler back in the day. Thought i'd go ahead and put fix a flat in the tires like preventive maintenance(i was young) Fix a flat breaks down the inside of the tire and over time ruins them from the inside. I could not keep air in the tires. Slim is wonderfull stuff in my book. I keep a bottle in the shop. Just follow directions and you won't have build up and bounce in a tire.
