PSA: Check Your Lug Nuts
Wife and me out at the ranch checking feeders and things overall when we're putting along and see something shiny along one of the trails. We both notice it as the sun was reflecting pretty good off of it. We both think "There shouldn't be anything shiny out here", so I stop and wife picks it up, it's a lug nut! I get out and look on my side, all are there. She then say's "You have two missing on the front." Sure enough. Get back and get the wrenches out, checked all the others, some were loose!
Aluminum wheels, so gotta get some spare lugs and check em once a month when I check air pressure. |

This was on the EZGO. I was cause I knew I torqued em down.
I was all set to do a tear down and add Long Travel front end, in dash gas gauge and prep for Geoffs 440 swap when I had the misfortune of slicing my left pinkie to the bone and 7 stitches later thanks to a bonehead move involving a machete on a Mesquite tree limb. |

Re: PSA: Check Your Lug Nuts
On new aluminum rims they recommend retorquing them after just a few days of driving. The aluminum hardens a little with pressure from the lug nuts and shrinks. Usually once they are "seated" into the new wheels you are fine after that. I would bet after you torque them this time you wont have any more issues, but I'd check them one more time just to make sure.

Re: PSA: Check Your Lug Nuts
I had the rear driver's side wheel come off of my CC. Luckily I felt something "off" and thought it was a flat, so I was slowing down to pull over when I watched the wheel roll down the hill and over the bank into the creek. It took a few seconds to realize what I was seeing! No real damage, but you can bet I check my lug nuts pretty regularly now. Good tip!
