Driver's side steering rub
I have a 1995 Club Car DS that I bought used last year. I use it on my property in hilly west Texas. During this fall a rub has developed on the front driver's side steering "knuckle". I think that is the tierod end but I'm not 100% sure of the nomenclature. It rubs the inside of the driver's side front tire when turning. It did not used to do this so I'm not sure what has changed.
What does this problem sound like and how do I go about troubleshooting and repairing the issue? I assume there is some kind of lift installed as the cart is rolling on 22 x 11 - 10 tires. Your time and help is appreciated. Have a very Merry Christmas, Tim |

Re: Driver's side steering rub
Have you checked the front end alignment? Make sure you have 1/4" toe in. If it didn't do it before, then something has changed and that would be the first thing to check.

Re: Driver's side steering rub
Toe in will not have effect on this problem. The relationship between the tie rod end and the tire does not change with adjustment. I would guess soemthing is drastically worn/broke. A tie rod does wear out, so if it was close before some slop could cause it to rub. Does it only rub in one spot? If so that could be a bent rim. Also if you haven't checked the front wheel bearings, now would be a good time. They probably need repacked anyways. They could be bad enough to move the tire around.
A good start would b to jack front of cart up and start wiggling suspension parts and have somebody rock the steering wheel back n forth a bit and observe what moves in strange ways/is sloppy |

Re: Driver's side steering rub
Most likely the Wheel bearing.Had the same situation last year on one side and needed a to repack the bearing after i put new seal in. These cart front ends dont like a lot of rough terrain for long. You really need to maintain them regularly, bearings and seal kits are inexpensive. I have seen a bent spindle do this too.
