Advice on custom build 2010 Precedent
I am looking to buy or have built a 2009-2011 Club Car Precedent.
I have seen them for sell lifted with rims and nice paint jobs at my local golf cart shops for around $4000(stock motor original batteries) . The only thing is I would like mine modified maybe an 11hp GE beast motor and a 650Amp controller. I just hate to spend the money on a perfectly good cart just to tear it down and replace the motor, controller, and wires. My local dealer says he can do a ground up custom build but that sounds like $$$$$ to me. My primary use for the cart will be going around the nieborhood and a little off roading some of my buddies have the modified hunting carts to about the same specs. I would like my cart to go a steady 25mph and still have plenty torque, our subdivision is very hilly and parts undeveloped. Please share any build ideas you may have or similar setups. My concerns are -old batteries, not enough power, and over$6,000,should I try and buy a rolling chassis where can you buy them? |

Re: Advice on custom build 2010 Precedent
Honestly You will have close to that in a build like you are talking about . I like building them myself . The attention to detail is usually not there on the "store bought" custom carts . Just my two Cents . But if your building one you can shop around and find some really killer deals on parts if you don't mind throwing in a lil elbow grease to build it That will save you on the bottom line . - Mayor

Re: Advice on custom build 2010 Precedent
Oh trust me I know it would be cheaper and better to build it myself. Unfortunately I don't have the tools or the knowledge to build one. But trust me I am going to do my homework and try to find the parts on the net and get a complete spec sheet from the shop before the build. Over the phone however the shop guy told me $1,500 for the performance parts and install if I buy the cart from them. That would be ($750 for the motor and controller each plus install) that sounds pretty good I wonder if he factored in the 2 gauge wire? Thank you for the advice and let me know if you have any suggestions on motor, controller, gears, lights, ect
Another question: Dose the year matter? Would I be better off buying a broken down 2005 and replacing everything or buying the 2010 and getting the performance mods added on? Last edited by haftafish8780; 01-03-2014 at 12:40 PM.. Reason: Questions still remaining |

Depending on what brand/type motor and controller he is installing . Check those prices/brands online . He is a retail establishment so they will be a lil higher but no sense in seriously over paying if you don't have too . - Mayor

Yeah I told him I wanted a GE motor and a Alltrax controller. I may just buy them online my self and have them install it if they will let me. What are the best websites to order from?

Re: Advice on custom build 2010 Precedent
Lots of people who support this forum sell hop up parts . Plum Quick motors is an Awesome Company to deal with . Those guys know there stuff on the speed parts . And on the builder cart in my opinion the newer the better . But there are also some nice older models around . A nice cart straight off golf course duty is the way I went . Nice late model cart to start your build . They have made the Precedent for several years now . So there should be plenty to choose from . - Mayor
