Torque specs needed
Does anyone have the torque specs for the rear end bolts on a jakes 5" lift kit? The instructions only say "tighten until they are secured". I believe they are grade 8 3/8" bolts and I got them torqued to about 35 ft lbs right now. And if anyone has the torque specs on the front spring bolts that would be great, I want to get them installed tomorrow morning. I think they are 3/8" as well.

Re: Torque specs needed
The torque spec for a 3/8, grade 8 bolt is as follows.
Dry torque 45ft lbs, Oiled torque 35ft lbs. This would be max torque used on a non specific application. In other words, Max torque for that bolt. I have followed this http://raskcycle.com/techtip/webdoc14.html charts recommendations for years. Unlike some that put an impact gun on the bolt and when it stops turning it is GOTO-n-Taite. On an app like a lift kit or the likes, I would go back after a few drives and recheck everything. But thats just me. Hope this helps. Steve |
