Default Stretch Plastics Lift Steering Gear Problem

I pulled off the steering gear from my cart because is wouldn't turn to the left. After bench testing, it seems like the gear inside is bad or just really gummed up. It doesn't look like you can open this up to work on it. Any one pulled it apart? Are there any replacements available?

I bought the cart two years ago used, so I don't know if this has ever been greased. It looks like it could use some grease to help it turn, but I'm not sure.

Here's a pic of the gear box.

Not so much of a problem...

Amazing what a little grease will do. I couldn't even get the gear to turn by hand when I tried last night, but I put some grease on it this morning and it works as good as new now. I would've swore that a tooth broke and was jammed inside, it was so hard to turn.

Glad it was an easy fix and at least this post will be in the archives for someone else in the future.

What kind of cart is it on? That looks just like a 11" dune buggy rack.

Dubs, that does look just like it. Its on a CC, but its party of an after market Kit. Strech must've used them as the steering gear in their long arm lift Kit.

Did it have boots on it? That is pretty crusty.

It did, but they weren't doing much as you can see. After greasing and cleaning it up, I reinstalled it and it seems to work just fine.

I'll just plan on pulling the boots back once a year and hitting it with more grease and that should keep it working smooth.
