Im searching for a new golf cart. Which model have the best suspension from the factory thats easy to modify and comfortable. Will be using it on mountain roads and will be putting a 4-6" lift on it.

If your upgrading the suspension on the cart that you are going to buy, then why worry about the stock suspension. Get the aftermarket suspension that fits your needs. Based on what you stated, I would go with a long arm lift.

Re: what cart has the best suspension?
Heres the thing, Im not looking to spend much on the cart as it will be left unattended at my cabin. Do yamahas have shocks at all four corners or leafs like the others? Could I just use a longer shock from another atv to get some lift?

I don't know what you consider "spending too much" but a long travel lift is going to run around $1000 plus wheels/tires. So $1500 +/- there

Yes, Yamahas have shocks on all 4 corners and in my opinion have the best suspension out there. I have a G9 with a 4" lift with 20" tires and it's very impressive. The rear ends in the G9 are virtually bullet proof also. The older G9's can be picked up relatively cheap and have alot of aftermarket stuff for them.

Re: what cart has the best suspension?
Shocks don't provide any lift. A well engineered suspension system is the only way to gain lift

The only lift you get will be how high of a tire you can put on ithookm

Re: what cart has the best suspension?
One cart isn't really "better" or "worse" than another, except if you are going to modify one, it's better to get one that's on the newer side so that parts, both oem and aftermarked, are readily available. The newer EZGO's are popular because they are relatively inexpensive and simple machines, and there's a lot of them out there to choose from. The Yamaha's are built the best from a structural standpoint, but are not as plentiful and might be more expensive. Club Car's are in between, and have an aluminum frame.
To be safe, I'd choose something in the late 1990's to early 2000's. If you are looking for "bolt on" modifications/parts, there will be more available for those newer carts. My recommendations, in this order: 1. Yamaha G16 or G22 2. EZGO Txt 2001.5-2009 3. Club Car DS 1996-2004 But that's just me, read up on them, they are all good carts. |
