Default Top Heavy Questions

I want to put a stereo up top, because I don't want to loose glove box space and I' fat and hate reaching for the dash.. But all the pods are pricey , so gonna try and make something . I am also wanting my Iggy button up there also. Can put the speakers down below somewhere. So I guess my question is , Does doing this make the cart much more top heavy for offroad use. etc. And has anyone made 1 .

It won't cause it to feel top heavy but if you are adding additional weight to the roof and you off road much you might want to brace up your roof supports.

My top is covered with Line-X and it probably weighs about twice what a normal top does. I am off road 90% of the time and I started having a problem with my front roof support cracking. After repairing it a couple of time I just went ahead and welded some angle iron to the support. I have not had a problem since.

The only thing I could figure out that caused it was the additional weight of my roof and the bumpy trails I ride on.

so on my top the supports end at about 6 inches from each end of the top nothing in the center down the sides . Is this normal and do they sell different supports . Should I just modify to make it stronger ?

Papabear, the supports for my roof where only about six inches long in the front as well. I made a box for the top out of wood and it has my stereo, speakers, and a cb in the box. It didn't feel top heavy. I do most of my riding on ruff terrain and the roof would move front to back allot and eventually the rear sports broke. I made a frame out of 1" square tubing and now it is very sturdy. Here is a pick of the frame and one that shows where the box is mounted. It's not a real good pick of the box.
