No, it just fit right over it.

Thanks
My problem was NAPA gave me chevette shocks but for the front not the rear
so another trip back to store today.
I did found shocks for the front ( NAPA #555002) but had to shave the rubber bushing down to get it the mount up and some 5/8 and 3/8" brass bushing. Now I'll have working shocks as front stock shocks where fully extended. Will have 3-4" of play in them.

I have had this thing apart for some time and forgot what is top, bottom and right or left.
I believe I have the engine plate correct (top view). Big elongated holes to the right. They give you a template to lay over it to drill new holes.
Questions:
1. If you do not make the holes elongated how do you adjust the clutch aliment?
2. My motor mount bushings and steal spacers (holes in the side) are wasted. I found a place that has the rubber only. Is there something I can pick up from a hardware store that will work for the spacers?
Thanks!

Questions: You are correct with the front, I'm not certain on the right or left, I just remember the front curves up slightly.

I think the alighnment is already done in the template.2. My motor mount bushings and steal spacers (holes in the side) are wasted. I found a place that has the rubber only. Is there something I can pick up from a hardware store that will work for the spacers?

Check the local hardware for the appropriate sized bushings

Laying the template on top of the engine plate did not work for me. I decided to prick punch the holes on the bench and then tape it to the bottom of the engine plate. This way I could see the aliment better.
Remember slower is better and you need plenty of lube!
Don’t push to hard or you will break it!
