atv rear shocks
MY g16 rubs with the jakes 6" lift and 23" tires when I hit a big bump. I know alot of you told me to get heavier springs but I was wondering why cant I just use longer atv shocks from a utility to gain a little more lift? I measured my stock ones at 12.5" so I would either need a 19.5" shocks to gain 1" or I found a few around 16.5" and I would just make the mounts. I figure they are the same weight but I wonder if those with independent rear shocks would be valved too light or too heavy?

Re: atv rear shocks
Where does it rub? You might not have to change anything at all just trim some stuff

Re: atv rear shocks
And I would definitely not put heavier springs on they destroy ride comfort totally like unless your carrying pie eating contestants DO NOT PUT ON HD SPRINGS!

Re: atv rear shocks
Exactly what I thought. The longer atv rear shocks should work good and give more travel. Its rubbing on the back mudflaps and I dont wanna trim them off. I need about 1" more lift.

Re: atv rear shocks
DS650 front shocks are 19.5" and would give me 1" more lift but I think they would be too soft and arent compression adjustable. Im looking at suzuki vinson rears which are 16.5" long but I would have to still raise the rear 2" more.

Re: atv rear shocks
I'm sorry that's a stupid question but I know or at least think the yamis have coil overs but the lift kits usually use leaf springs

Re: atv rear shocks
OK did my homework it seems you use the stock coil overs. Sorry about that. Usually quad front suspension is a bit stiffer than the rear so the front doesn't dive in corners and doesnt bottom out in rough riding and jumps I would go for it unless your front suspension is really really soft

Re: atv rear shocks
Panter - This has been discussed about a thousand times on BGW. Be aware - if you put ATV shocks on the rear, your cart becomes a whole lot more unstable on corners. They are too soft for a G16. Now, if you can find automotive shocks, like VW or dune buggie shocks, or even RZR shocks, you would be safe with something like that.
