Metallic Green with Racing Stripes G22
Got it done for now.... pics of it stock was 6/27, and with lift, wheels, lights & paint 7/20. Thinking of making a custom dash....at least giving it a try.

Re: Metallic Green with Racing Stripes G22
Thanks for the replies.
I had some white Eastwood urethane left over from painting my Vette last summer (Dark grey w/ white stripes), along with some primer. I ordered a quart of "Sour Apple Green Metallic" from Summit along with some more clear (need a little more for a part of the Vette I need to re-do anyways). Wasn't positive Eastwood and Summit urethane paints would be happy with each other, but everything looks fine so far. I kept the paint/activator in relation to their own brand, but the applying Summit urethane over the Eastwood primer and white hasn't produced any ill effects. (yet) Roughed it up fairly well, bought some polyester glazing putty to patch up some gouges, glued scrap body pieces from the headlight cutouts below the windshield mount holes, and "no step" cover holes, then filled them up with the putty. Bodywork and I are not the best of friends, but you can't tell they are there unless I point them out to you. It may crack around those areas down the road, but if they do, I'll just punch them out and get some rubber plugs to put in the holes. Got a couple cans of Duplicolor plastic adhesion promoter and sprayed the body down before putting primer on. Wet sanded it down after primer flashed for a few hours, sprayed white on the next day, taped off the stripes, sprayed the green. After the green flashed over a couple hours, sprayed a couple coats of clear. Have a couple runs in the clear, but if you don't have any runs in your clear, you didn't put it on heavy enough. It did come out pretty well. Wish the paint on the Vette would have turned out this well..... Oh ya, forgot to mention a couple cans of truck bedliner on the rear bag tray liner, bumpers, and the hand rails on the seat. |
