Re: First time G1 lift advice needed
Most guys will use the stock pitman arm but build up the steering arms at the knuckle. It's tricky, if you don't do it right you'll know because it will steer all over the place or it will bind.

Re: First time G1 lift advice needed
I took my spindles off and switched sides. This way I gained a little bit and then I welded some square tube under the original steering arm that the tie rod attached too. I also bent it a bit. Worked out great and steers pretty well.
Of course I also added 4" to the width so had too extend my steering arms as well. |

Re: First time G1 lift advice needed
Most yamaha will clear over 22" if you move them forward 1.5-2". Wider is nice you can get 3" spacers for the rear, if you need to match track width.

Re: First time G1 lift advice needed
I stretched my build out 2" on each side and also moved the wheels forward a couple as well.
I still get some bump steer if I'm moving full speed and hit some large bumps but it isn't quite so bad. I don't think this is caused quite so much by the lift as it is by the shocks I used for the lift. The springs on them aren't quite as stiff as the stock ones. It makes it ride better on the front though. |

Re: First time G1 lift advice needed
Any kit you buy should say what size tire they fit, or your should not be buying it. Most yami kits fit 22s unless they are an economy lift that does not move the front arms forward, and most of those lifts come with 20s included. Most yamaha hit the frame under the floor if you don't (when you turn).
