Default What is the ride quality difference between a spindle and long travel lift?

I have a Yamaha Drive Conceriage gas with a Jakes 3" Spindle lift and have considered going to a long travel lift.
Is there any differance in ride quality between them?

Almost no comparison to be had. Offroad. The LT sucks up almost everything on the trails and is basically a "Magic Carpet" compared to anything that utilizes the stock components, but can be a little mushy on pavement, etc at speed ... Have any experience with 4-wheelers? Picture the difference in ride and handling between an offroad speed-demon like a Banshee as vs a solid hauler like a Grizzly (hopefully that made sense) ...

LT also, FYI, isn't generally just a "Kit" - the front will be LT with the kits that are out there but keep in mind if You don't work with the rear suspension a bit (IE different springs and shocks, etc to make the rear as soft and with the travel of the front) then the limitations of the stock suspension (which You basically still have w your existing lift) will definitely come through ... Can get spendy. Well worth it though if You ride hard, ride rough trails, etc. WELL WELL WELL worth it.

Yeah there is no comparison. A spindle lift will give you the clearance you need, but that's all. The LT setup will give you the best ride and handling a golf cart with a lift can have. They are a bit soft during cornering, so keeping the rear stiff will help, and just the front being LT is still much better than stock. The only downside is the price.

Night and day difference. I'm on my second LT. Had one on an ezgo and now I have one on my Yamaha. Jake's brand.

This is prob the best explanation I have seen and makes total sense.
So, what do I do with the rear?
Thanks again for everyone that has posted, it has been a huge help to me and others to fully understand the differance.

What did you do with your rear suspension on the Yamaha?

Love the jakes long travel just installed on my 2007 yamaha drive. Wish there was a kit to get the same performance from the rear.. most of my use is in the woods and the rear is a bit harsh. Considered the heavy springs as sometimes we load it up but wouldn't want it any stiffer with two.
