After lift alignment adjustments
Hey guys, I just put a 6" Jakes spindle lift with 23" tires on my 2006 Precedent. Getting a pretty annoying vibration at certain speeds. I know the tow in/tow out is not set correctly, but I can not find any info online about how to set it right. If someone can help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: After lift alignment adjustments
I've got an RXV that I just lifted and have a terrible vibration at certain speeds as well. Running 23" Backlash X tires. I have done an alignment and still no change. I'm contemplating balancing the wheels. Curious to see what you find out.

Re: After lift alignment adjustments
The tires are the likely culprit for the vibration, but alignment is important for control when driving at speed. I have no experience wit CC's but I seem to remember seeing a thread in the CC forum on alignment.
I primarily use my cart on the street, but just love the new look with the lift and tires so I will do what I can with the vibration then live with what's left. Mine vibrates/rattles bad at about 9 MPH and then smooths out after that. Its only a problem at low speeds and when coming to a stop. Keep me posted if you make any progress and I will do the same. |

Re: After lift alignment adjustments
We installed a 6" Jakes long travel lift kit. The alignment process is a total nightmare. Local shop wouldn't even touch it due to headaches.
Ultimately, three sessions, three different helpers, and about 15 hours of tweaking we got things dialed in pretty well. The ride difference between a poorly aligned cart and a properly aligned cart is remarkable, at least with the long travel design. Wheels should be vertical top to bottom. Total toe in is 1/8 to 1/4" compared to the rear of the tires. |

Re: After lift alignment adjustments
Alignment is no big deal, use two levels long enough to stick out past either side of your tires, hold them in place with a bungie cord from one side to the other, set them level and centered on the wheel and tire so that the level goes across the center cap of the wheel and sits parallel to the ground. Cut two 1' by 1' square pieces of card board for each side ( 4 in total. Put grease in between two pieces of card board to make a grease samdwhich, place one of these under each of the front tires. Loosen the 4 retainer nuts hloding your inner and outer tie rod ends. Use a tape measure to measure from one level to the other side both in front of and behind the front tires. You want to set your toe to a 1/4" in on the front. Some people prefer to set the toe with the cart loaded ( people sitting on the cart), because the settings both Toe and chamber will change under load.
Hope this helps. |

Re: After lift alignment adjustments
Here's the deal with spindle lifts on Club Cars... You have to use the stock Club Car alignment procedures!
The toe in/out is a piece of cake, (but, I have heard that some tie rod ends aren't long enough on Precedents) The camber adjustment is a bit more frustrating! I've found that when adjusting the "eccentric" to get the wheels from \-/ to l-l, is the frustrating part! You have to adjust the eccentric all of the way one way, to even come close to l-l, Usually, (at least for my cart) it comes close enough to live with! Here are the factory adjustment procedures: Page 1: Page 2: Page 3: Hope this helps! |
