94 marathon lift issues and questions help (again after server crashed....)
i posted before but ill do it again, steering issues after lifting my marathon gasser 4", someone posted model numbers of shocks i needed from monroe, i think it was 31000 and 31125? also someone posted a pic about how to adjust toe in to help with my steering?
and lastly someone gave me a guys name to contact about rear springs, i was talking about buying 14" coilovers from a latemodel that was about 300lbs a spring but wanted to get this guys name so i can contact him again and confirm.. any and all help i appreciate! |

The only info I have found is you are right on the part numbers for the shocks.....pitstopusa.com for the springs part#SSSA275 are 275lb springs that are 4" longer than stock.... but thet have others to choose from. Hope this helps.

well the issue is , is 275 lbs enough....
i am not near my golfcart so i cant tell but i gotta toss bathroom scales over rear tires and weight each corner so i can figure out what kind of springs i need to buy. |

Your cart is right around 800lbs dry - 60/40 distribution to the rear (roughly) ... Add in (2) 200lb riders minimum, that weight is going to be closer to 50/50 so add 50lbs to each shock. Being as You're likely going to be keeping your front springs as-is, prob going to want 300 on each rear to be safe. You mentioned coilovers, so I'm assuming you're going to pull the rear coils and replace the shocks with coilovers?!? If so, You'll have to beef up the shock mounting points, they're designed to hold shocks, not shocks and springs (the Big coils hold the weight)

ok update for everyone, i finally got to the cart and got a chance to weight one back wheel and it was 318 lbs without anyone on the cart, when i leaned on the back to act like someone would be sitting on the rear it went to 400 and then error'ed which i would assume is the limit of the scale.
anyone have suggestions on weight at this point for new springs? |

Just reread everything to see where the heck I could have gotten the numbers wrong, and realized your 94 isn't the same as the 2-stroke 1988 weight that I was working with (Your cart is significantly heavier, plus you already have the weight of the back seat right over the rear axle) ... If You have a base of 318 to work with, the rest is easy - 2 riders over the back axle will be around 300lbs, so add 150 per wheel, or 450lbs ... Keep in mind that those back seats pose a conundrum for many people, when You add the Heavy-duty springs needed for a cart to ride right w 4 people, then it'll ride like a board and drive You nuts if You're alone or with a single passenger. The compromise point is something You'll have to figure out based on your primary driving habits.
That said, again - be sure to reinforce the mounting points if You go to straight coilovers, especially if You're setting the cart up for 4 people |

dont plan on replacing the stock spring and shocks with a coil over, i just plan to use the coil over "spring" as a replacement spring due to size and lb seems to fit perfectly as a replacement. just gotta find one above 400 now. and yes it seems ill have to have around 450-500 lb springs now that i got a base to work with but that seems like a lot of weight on this cart. which im shocked it weighs this much and runs as good as it does, esp up hills.
