Precedent Double A Arm on 25s
I am not sure if there is a thread already detailing the install with pics but I will be creating one here. I am going to be putting a Jake's double a arm 6" lift on my precedent and switching out my low profile tires for 25-10-14 tires. I plan to take pics of the install as I go. Ordered everything today to hopefully get started next week.

Re: Precedent Double A Arm on 25s
Lift finally showed up today. Directions look kind of vague for a Jake's kit but I have watched the install video several times. The tires came last week and look awesome! I am going to start tackling the job Saturday morning. Anyone else put 25's on a precedent? I think it is going to look and ride pretty nice.

Re: Precedent Double A Arm on 25s
Thank you.
You should watch the install videos before beginning the job. I was very fortunate that my cart has less than a tank of fuel through it, so there was no rust, no mud, and everything came off with ease. The trickiest part was adjusting toe-in on the front end and aligning the steering wheel. What I did was get everything close by eyeballing it. Then I drove it around the block a few times. Then, using two 4 foot metal levels (or two long pieces of metal you KNOW are straight), I placed them alongside the outside of the front tire/wheel assemblies and measured each end of the outside of the levels. I set my toe-in at about 1/8" narrower in the front. It took a couple of tries, with a trip around the block to ensure everything was "settled" into place. But it worked. Took me a bit longer than someone with more expertise, but I'm not a mechanic. As for the rear springs, I went with new heavy-duty. I've always chuckled to myself at those who say, "The ride is too harsh," after installing those springs. Well, so what. It's a golf cart, not a Cadillac. Stabilizing the engine and ensuring sufficient play in the brake cables took a bit of finesse, but after that, all I had to do was adjust the brake pedal. If you give yourself about 4 hours, that should be enough time unless your cart requires additional work due to rust, etc. Lastly, I made a snubber extender. In my opinion, it was unnecessary. Good luck! |

Re: Precedent Double A Arm on 25s
Thanks for the pics! I have the four leaf HD springs in the back too. Mine shouldn't be too hard I had it all apart twice in the last year. I am going to get on it first thing in the morning and see where I get by noon. I have watched the youtube video about 5 times and made notes. I am debating now on if I want to take the extra time and polish the visible aluminum frame or paint it all black. I cant stand rust or weathered metal.

Re: Precedent Double A Arm on 25s
Got the lift put on yesterday. I am getting the wheels and tires mounted today. The lift was actually very easy to do. I would suggest watching the Jake's video on youtube as well as the Madjax video. Both are very informative and help out immensely. I have a couple suggestions to add for the folks tackling the job themselves.
1. When installing new upper a arms, it is a tight fit with the new bushings. I loosened the upper shock mounts and the went in easily. 2. Check your hub mounts for excess coating from the factory. One of mine had the black coating half way down it and was thick enough it didn't allow the hub to turn freely. I scraped off with a razor. Everything else was very straight forward and the directions were easy to read. I will get pictures up later if I can get the wheels/tires on the cart. |

Re: Precedent Double A Arm on 25s
I picked up the newly mounted tires. I measured them and they actually stand 27.25" from ground to top of tread. The fronts fit great and the backs fit but there will be a little trimming required. I have already trimmed some when it was low to clear bigger lowpro tires. Shouldn't be an issue. I think it looks pretty nice. My driver's side brake cable came up short like most people who lift the cart so I get to replace that with a passenger side this week. I cant do the flip and switch because I am running the Ausco mechanical discs (which I haven't been too fond of this year). Here are a couple pics.
