I know it's fun to be on the cutting edge with this stuff but ... there's a lot at risk when things go wrong.

When purchasing used used lithium cells, is it possible to determine if the cells were previously excessively discharged?

Or does excessive discharge only show up after the fact ... like it possibly did in this case?

Not that I am aware of unless it was load tested and read very low or showed physical damage in the case.

Jerald, do you know what the full V after a full charge was on your pack normally? Was it charging to 4.2vpc? Higher? Lower?

DaveTM, If the BMS is set to 42V cutoff (3.0vpc) why then not have the Alltrax shut off at 42V as well? This way if the BMS fails then the Alltrax will help save your pack?
The pack charged to 50 volts

And if anyone is interested in purchasing a golf cart seat, or a charger let me know, the seat was off it and I still have 2 chargers for it but that was all that was saved

Jerald, If you would provide a few more details of your setup.

What type of batteries did you have? Nissan Lithium or Chevy volt?

What was your setup voltage? 36V or 48V

Here is one of his threads where his system is discussed:
Club car lipo battery help
Post #12 he talks about the setup. Nothing specific to type, said it was a 50v setup. If it was Leaf modules, I believe it would have been a 12 module setup?

Post #20 he mentions when the pack was over discharged

Ahh, I could’ve sworn I read they were leaf batteries. Quite obviously, I was wrong.
