Battery Charging Question?????????
I am new to golf carts and bought an old Melex that runs fine. I am unsure about the battery health. I have a Lestronic II charger that will charge the batteries but never shuts off. I bought a hydrometer and it indicates that the batteries are fine but the charge doesn't last long and when i charge for a few hours the batteries boil/gurgle. What do you recommend??? Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Battery Charging Question?????????
Using a hydrometer is the most accurate method of measuring the state of charge so kuddos for that. So if you are certain that each battery is fully charged with a hydrometer indicates to me your batteries are just old and the capacity has degraded.
Are you measuring each individual cell within a battery? Is there one battery or any of the cell(s) reading low while all the others read fully charged? |

Re: Battery Charging Question?????????
Within about 10 hours of charging you will get Falsely high readings both in voltage and Specific Gravity... I think this is why you think your readings are okay when they may not be... also write them all down ~ any variation over 40 pts between cells indicates a weakness .... I hope this helps
