Default 96(?) melex restore

just got my summer project a 1996 (i think) Melex 512e
it needs work but owner is disabled neighbor and will be a challenge
here are start photos






things to be done
paint ( Maui blue & black )
recover seats
tires & hub caps
bushings
batteries
new wires
new light switch
clean, clean ,CLEAN

any tips or advice always welcome

looks like a good one to start with. you also have the room there between the batteries to add a 12V for your accessories or mount the charger for onboard use. Have fun with it and get plenty of pics!

tore it down

here is test color

hub caps and supports

chrome paint

first coat on hub caps will sand out bumps

seats out for new white covers

first problem ... been sitting a month and now will not run

looking like you are making some progress! as far as the problem, clean all the battery terminals and cable lugs. if it's been sitting and not on the charger, then you probably have some corrosion. clean them up then make sure it's charged up and see what happens.
