Default Melex 36v slows down after you take off

I have a 1991 melex 252 golf cart takes off good but then it just seems like it loses speed.

Might be a battery supply problem.
Connect a voltmeter to the pack
Note the standing voltage
note the driving voltage
note the voltage when the cart slows down.
