Default My Big Blocked '04 E-Z-Go

Here's a few pics of my '04 TXT..

I put up with the wimpy little 295cc for about a year before adding "mo power" ... Got one of Tom's (Cart Parts Plus) 23 Vanny kits (w/Cam & Rev Kit) for a major horsepower injection.. It also has a AM/FM/CD stereo in a marine enclosure, full instrumentation (Tach, Oil Pressure, Voltmeter, Fuel gauge), a set of dash doors (didn't want a full dash cover), cargo box, and a set of 8:1 Hi-Speed gears.. It's also a legally registered LSV..

I really don't know what the max speed is.. It's still using the governor in the axle to keep the max RPM's at 3600.. I installed the cam one tooth advanced to boost low end torque and limit top end.. Since it's a registered LSV, it's restricted by law to a max speed of 25MPH.. It just gets there blindingly fast!! The 8:1 gears give me a cruising speed of 25MPH @ 28/2900RPM, that big 'ol Vanny is just loafin' along .. I did the engine swap because I was fed up with listening to that 295 Robin screaming @ 4100RPM to get to 25MPH..

This cart is our neighborhood cruiser/grocery getter.. I dropped the Vanny in it in August, and it already has over 450 miles on it..

Thanks!!!

Tom should consider offering a modified VW muffler for the Vanny kits.. My cammed 23 breathing thru it sounds awesome!! Not too loud, and sounds a bit like a Harley when you nail it..

When I had the back cover off to install the cam, the engine's governor shaft had to be removed.. The performance cams have no provision for a governor.. After removing the governor fork and shaft, I drove out the shaft bushing with a punch.. The machined hole in the cover is the right size to tap for 1/2"-20 SAE threads.. I took a 1/2"-20 x 3/4" hex head bolt, coated the threads with Hi-Temp RTV and ran it home..

Quick tip: Plan on having to grind the heads off of the fork retaining screws, Briggs cranks them in super tight and brads the ends.. In order to keep the grinding dust and thread shavings out of the main bearings pressed into the cover, cover them with duct tape.. Also I removed the oil pump from the cover and taped over the oil galleries.. When finished tapping the hole, spray everything clean with aerosol brake parts cleaner..
