QDMAlan's hunting cart build
After looking around for a little while I found the cart I was looking for. 2003 Ezgo TXT. Batteries were shot and it came with a 36v charger (timer doesn't work). I picked it up for $500.
Since it was really hot here this weekend and the wind was in the wrong direction, I decided to just work on breaking the cart down instead of hunting. I took the body off and wire brushed the frame and cleaned it. Then I generously sprayed it with rustoleum paint. Now to decide what electronics I want to put in it and I need a name for it. Lots of more pictures below. For the increased comfort, I am going to buy a All Sports/Jakes long travel kit for it. After brushing and paint |

Re: QDMAlan's hunting cart build
Just ordered a 500a controller/new solenoid/HD f&R and new cables from ScottyB. Now to decide what batteries I am going to put in. I am thinking about the Trjoan T890 or Crown CR190's.

Re: QDMAlan's hunting cart build
based on your choice of batteries obviously you are going with a 48v system, GOOD CHOICE! and either of those battery's will do the job, actually BETTER than most would do. either one will give you what you need and as long as they are cared for properly, will give you many years of life.

Hopefully you got the serial number information before you painted over it .... But looking good.

Re: QDMAlan's hunting cart build
Not sure about your state but here in SC we have to have it to put insurance on it so we can get a permit to drive it on the streets. I also am leary of buying a cart that doesn't have a visible serial number.. Too many thefts around and we also have a lot of people rebuilding carts claiming them to be 1 or 2 years old but really 10 or more.. Saw one the other day that the guy was claiming it was a 2014 cart and it had pre 2001 steering.. Uh, No..

Oh I gotcha. This one won't be on the streets any but it has two visible serial's on it. I have them written down and I know the guy who sold it to us. It is a 2003 model. Thanks for the heads up though.

Quote:
Golf cart permits are available at any SCDMV branch office. The permit allows a licensed driver to operate a golf cart during daylight hours on a secondary highway or street within four miles of his residence or place of business. To obtain a golf cart permit, you must: · Complete Form GC-2, Golf Cart Permit Registration · Provide proof of insurance for the golf cart · Provide a valid driver license number for the operator · Submit a fee of $5.00 Learn something new everyday. Though I can only imagine that enforcement is lax, as I've been driving carts in SC for years and had never even heard of it prior to looking that up |
