single seat ride on golf buggy
Hi all
This is my first post so go easy on me please. I am in the UK and have bought a four wheel ride on single seat golf buggy. It is of Chinese origin unfortunately, but is in good used condition. Its generic name is powaglide but a number of companies market them around the world. Sadly my golf club will only allow single seat carts apart from their own fleet of ezgos so I am stuck with one of these. (I will get a pic of it for reference and post later.) Basically, its a square tubed frame in two parts(Front and rear fixed together with a swivelling section to allow articulation on undulating ground)with rear seat and front handlebars. As you are no doubt aware it looks like a disabled type mobility type scooter and obviously I would like to alter its looks somewhat so it is less so. I am firstly going to replace the handlebars with a steering wheel but leave the hand operated lever type 'go/stop' switch in situ. but I would firstly like to know if anyone on here, has anything similar or at least any interest in these types please. From there on I am looking for mods to it in any way plus paints jobs that may suit. Any and all constructive help will be much appreciated. I love this site and am very envious of the many carts that are on here which have been modded-wow there are some belters!!! Thanks for looking and I hope some can help. cheers for now Tom |

Re: single seat ride on golf buggy
it does look like a mobility scooter. paint works wonders and a steering wheel yeah. modify for foot pedals maybe different hub caps or chrome wheels. if you run at night led lights and strips. make it yours

Re: single seat ride on golf buggy
Pictures usually help a lot but I looked this one up. They look more like a rough terrain mobility scooter.
I'm not sure what all could be done to modify the cart other than maybe a bit bigger tires and some paint. Not sure I'd want one myself. Too bad your stuck with one! |

Re: single seat ride on golf buggy
Hi again everybody
Bloody fantastic replies so far!!! Love the furze youtube vid -fell off the chair laffin' at that one-marvellous boys. You're right the club are being greedy wantin more money out of members for hiring buggies(as if they don't get enough in fees already eh?) Still it is what it is and I'm stuck with it for now so i'll make sure this thing turns some snooty heads on the first tee for sure! Its the exact one that's in the first reply.(why didn't I think of doing that) I've just spent a couple of hours stripping it down to the bare bones and discarded loads of useless Chinese cheap nasty rusting steel bits-it'll weigh 10lbs less for a start! Been lookin at lithium battery for it to replace the two astronomically heavy 55ah wired in series for 24v lead acid suckers. That'll reduce the weight by several stones i'm sure(also my wallet by several hundred GBP-ouch!) Paint job will be really easy once the metal is cleaned up, treated and primed but I want to do something really out there to make it stand out paintwise-open to all suggestions from you the knowledgeable ones!! The wheels are quite odd-they are a two piece rim, steel on the inside and aluminium on the out(money saving on the ally) and are bolted together and tubed tyres-don't know what to do with those yet. I know they'll think i'm taking the piss if I get a two seater and just put one seat in it-tha'll be a one way ticket to another club for sure but good suggestion. Steering wheel is going on certainly but keep the hand throttle on a stalk, old mans basket is in the bin-yuk and the original crappy bag holding bottom basket on the back has also met the same fate-not needed at all. I'm really looking forward to more suggestions and help and cant thank you all enough so far-brilliant. cheers for now Tom. |

Re: single seat ride on golf buggy
Good evening all(well its about 9.40pm here in Wales in the UK)(sorry about the misty screen but we are 500 metres above sea level)
Thank you very much for your input, it is very much appreciated. I played a round of golf this morning at the club(gross-very, net too many) I have recently joined-please-look at cardigan golf club on google. It is a beautiful, wild, welsh links golfcourse on the south west coast, full on to the atlantic pond-buggered if I can find a tree(ok there is one but I think its not a real one) on the course. I went around with a hillbilly electric trolley.(Ha ha, no not a muffin pulling my trolley-its a real English make of elec troll.) I was bloody knackered 'cos i'ma gettin' ol' an' I needs some sorta transport and the only one I can have(miserable) is an old persons mobility scooter(oh the shame of it.) I ask you from the pitt of my wallet, help me make it good enough to grace the fairways. Give me some ideas I can go with or modify but please, give me some ideas. cheers for now Tom. ps (I am not welsh, I am English, born in Liverpool 1950- 2 miles away from the boy Lennon. Love playing guitar and singing the ol' boys songs and yes, mcartney too ooh ooh ooh Honestly, the only word that springs to my mind when I look at the photos(of my trolley) is "bugger." Re: single seat ride on golf buggy
Hi
Nice idea, lots of work but I don't think it would work on mine. Its a 1 1/2" square section steel tubing frame with no body panels to speak of unfortunately. What might work however, is dip painting as is done with guitar bodies in multi-coloured paint. Don't fully understand the process yet-plenty of examples on youtube-has anyone on here any knowledge of it at all? I just found out I cant post pics yet til I've been on here for at least a week. cheers for now and thanks johnny reb Tom. |
