Default 2013 Yamaha Drive Build Project

Finally got the deal I wanted on a cart to modify for use at the lake house. 2013 fleet model, just a few marks on the body, $2850+tax. Will probably end up painting it after all the mods are done. By the time its done, it will be typical of a lot of other builds, but still looking forward to the project over the winter.

Mod plan right now:
Street Legal it - Called the police to find out exactly whats needed, done. Just need a mirror and windshield over the amazon street legal kit. RecPro Street Legal Kit from amazon ordered. $164
Back seat kit - Not sure yet
6" lift - Would love opinions between the A-Arm and Long Travel. Are the LTs worth the extra $200?
14" wheels w 22/23" tires - Liking the Voodoo 14" with 23x10s
Front hitch receiver, cooler/fishing pole mount - I read the LT Jakes lift had a front hitch, but can't confirm that.
New seats/re-upholstered
Replace dash with stereo/speakers locations, bazooka tube under rear seats
Black 80" roof
LED lights under roof and body
High Speed Gears - Probably not with hitting 16 on a zip tied governor. With the bigger wheels, 20-22 should be plenty.

Here is the start:

Ok, so i installed the lights/signals/horn kit this weekend. All went relatively good, except, when I put the parking brake on, the brake lights stay on, even when the key is turned to off. Any idea how to fix that?

Also - where can you get factory OEM bodies? Rather than pay to paint, I think I'd rather have a new body with a factory color.

Does the Jakes long travel lift kit include a 2" receiver on the front for the G29? In the kit pictures for the G22, I can see the receiver, but for the G29, i don't see it. However, the product description says it does. Want to make sure before I order it.

I don't know about the bodies, but I have seen on here before that most brake lights stay on for around 30 seconds and then go off. You might want to try that and see what happens.

I called Jakes, the latest long travel kit DOES NOT have a front receiver, so my next question is how do I add one? Have it fabricated and bolt to the frame? The tongue weight would be the frame plus a fully stocked cooler. Maybe 125 LBs or less.

Good call on the parking lights, they do turn off after 30 seconds.

You can get factory OEM bodies from any authorized Yamaha dealer. You can even order from a Yamaha non-golf cart selling dealer if they agree to it. They can order from their standard Yamaha parts accessories.

What would be an expected cost to get a body painted? Mine has minor issues, and would need to filled and sanded in a few spots, nothing major. Im looking at doing a single metallic color. Going to a body shop on Monday and was wondering what to expect. $300 seems to be what I would think.

Hey Nick,

I'm located in Westerville. I've been looking around for a decent newer Yamaha, but haven't come close to that price. Where did you find it?
