Default My first build 94 ezgo Marthon

this will be my first venture into a golf cart. i have already learned alot here.

The basics

1994 Marthon off Craiglist $175.00. No batteries possible bad F/R switch

found a diamond plate utility bed on Letgo $70.00
found front heavy duty front bumper brush guard with lghts and winch mount $75.00

After i sat the bed on it, realized the cart would fit on the old pool deck. it now has a home for the renovation.

once i get the wife outside I will play with heights till she is comfortable then get lift kit and tires to match that height.

once i get the right height for her, the body is coming off so that I can clean and paint the frame.

this will be a long term project. final us will be on our 8.5 acres.

What I plan

lift and all terrian tires
heavy duty springs and shocks
possible disk brakes
upgrade electronics
possible go to 48 volt we do have a decent hill on our property
winch
add top if she wants it
paint or rhinoliner

for some reason everytime i try to add a photo here it ask for a link. I will add photos im my album

Hard to beat $175! Good deal!

I wish I had the later Marathon like yours, with solid state control and the plastic front bumper cowl.

Our projects are pretty similar. I'm subscribing to your thread. Good luck and post lots of pictures!

Got the mock height done. Wife likes it simulating a 4 inch lift with 22. Had here try the F/R switch she had a hard time with it , so another upgrade item

Passed on the brush guard. Got the 4 " economy lift from Buggies Unlimited. Bought while it was on sale. That how this build will progress. May start teardown next week

Gave my wife a choice build a little and use or just keep it down till complete. She choice to just keep it down. I was at a tractor dealer yesterday they also sell Polaris. Notice a set of seats in a 1000 that are 2 piece got me thinking how I could adapt them to the cart

Some people put boat seats on there carts. They pretty comfy and affordable.

My Rhino's seats are about shot, so I have been looking for replacement seats on a budget. So I have been checking out boat seats.

Nice going so far. It looks like we are doing almost the same kind of build. I just picked up a diamond plate utility bed about 2 hours ago , I will mock it up tomorrow and post some pics.
I was told that most people just mount right to the fenders on a marathon like ours, I was going to use some 1 inch spacers of 3/4 PVC tubing around each bolt, so I can clean up underneath it.
What are you thinking about for mounting it?
