roll bar is started
My youngest son was on leave before his final naval deployment. He learned to weld from the navy and has been stocking up his own equipment. Bride and I went down to help him move everything home so he does not have to after he gets out. Soooooo........ all his welding stuff was home and he built me a roll bar.It is big and stupid and I love it. I want to paint it with bed liner but also want to distress it in spots to match rest of cart. Would you distress it before painting or paint parts and distress the rest. By distress I plan to spray parts with salt water, let it rust some, than clear coat it.

I think you'll get the most natural results by painting first and then distressing the areas you plan too.
Roll cage looks good. What did he make the bends with and what material did he use? |

schedule 40 tube, 1 1/4 " diameter. Bought the 16 ton pipe bender from Harbor Freight. Bender worked ok, kinked the tubing a few times. I will use one of the goofs on the front when we finish it. Also have 3/4 " tube for grab handles to be added later.
