Default '88 Marathon - It's alive!

Cart newbie...just picked this up to use as a neighborhood cruiser.

Installed new batteries/cables and it runs smooth as silk. Super thrilled!

Now can move on to replacing battery boxes, motor cables, and seat covers...and...and...and...

Update on the Marathon.... Turns out it was manufactured in '83; not '88. Appears it may have been refurbished at some point but still a resistor cart. I bought it from a guy that picked it up at auction. My guess is it had been sitting for many many years as the battery trays were nearly completely rusted away and tires were dry-rotted in one spot.

Since installing batteries and verifying it runs have: replaced the battery trays, replaced all the wiring, added one of ScottyB"s DVM, re-upholstered the seats, added a voltage reducer, LED light bar & tail markers, replaced the dry-rotted tires, painted the rims black, and picked up a portable Bluetooth speaker for tunes.

Brakes needed some adjustment but are still anemic. I read this is status quo for the vintage. Have a 4" inch econo lift on the way but the suspension is a little tired so will be looking at springs and shocks next.

Overall it is solid little cart. It runs 14mph on flat ground and with the community speed limit of 15mph it keeps the grandkids from ripping around neighborhood and the adultkids from losing their ice chest full of beer out of the bag well

Updated picture of the cart...

Nice, I love the marathon's. I think their one of the best Ezgo golf carts out there. I have a 1993 gas version though.
