Default Vinyl wrap & spray can paint hybrid, 1998 EZ-GO TXT

Wanted to try the vinyl car wrap thing after doing my homework both online and asking a friend who owns a sign shop. Not the hardest thing I've ever done, but far from the easiest. Patience, persistence and a good heat gun man are key. Bought the material for about $180 total with shipping from Amazon. 5' x 15' long piece was what I figured I needed but I had plenty left over. I'd buy at least that much again if I had to do another.

I did not want to piece it together, as most online videos show. So I knew one big problem I knew I was going to have, was the at the transition on rear fenders where the top, side, and rear surfaces come together, then fold back into the bag well. Vinyl had to be cut, so I'll put a pin strip over the cut seam later. And also the body directly under the seat was going to be impossible to wrap and it still look decent. Add in my first timer mistakes and I just didn't like it. This was my fix. Tape it, cut out, then spray paint it with the highest quality plastic paint I could get from Lowe's. Turned out better than expected really.

Good looking job. I've gone back and forth on the Club Car I'm doing. Everyone says its a 2 person job. I would like to hear about some of the problems you ran into.

Yes! Vinyl wrap is definitely a 2 person job. Once the vinyl has warmed up the point it becomes more pliable, you have seconds to apply it before it cools. And it conforms to curved surfaces much easier when warm. One person to hold it just above the surface, the other to carefully heat it up. And if the person with the heat gun has ever applied it before that will help greatly having them knowing "where" the heat needs to be applied, what technique to use to get it there, and when to stop heating it. I had my teenage kids on the heat gun, and neither one them ever "got it".

AND, you can also overstretch. It will get thin and the color will seem to fade. Think "stretching a colored balloon". There was some trial and error with it figuring out the correct amount of heat and stretching amount. If you don't have patience and not willing to work for good results, just paint it. But, once you figure out how to work it, it is a pretty cool way to quickly change the color of something versus painting.

It looks great and not just for a first timer. I think I'll bring mine to you next so you can wrap it in cosmic blue
