New ride journal
So last week sold my 2002 EZGO txt and decided it was time to switch things up a bit. Me and the boys went over to Mobile, AL and picked up a 2014 G29 Yamaha for a great deal and in great condition.
Since my last cart was lifted, my son who is 8 had a hard time Getting his golf clubs out of the bag with the lift and I was getting a little tired of it as well stepping in and out. With this mainly being a neighborhood cruiser and actual golf cart I wanted to keep it as close to stock height as possible. One of the things I was always scared of on my previous cart was taking it all apart to paint the body. Well one of my wife's conditions was that this one needed to be painted. So to start this off I have included a picture from Saturday when we had it loaded up and headed back and today's handiwork removing the body! I will say I am going to need some help with replacement rivets, as a lot of them were not in good shape and will need replacing. If anybody has any input on that I sure would appreciate it! Also how easy, and how well does plastidipping the roof hold up? Painter wants an extra $150 to do the roof and it's not a necessity but I am considering either doing the dip or just saying to heck with it and leaving it alone. I'd be afraid to paint it with spray cans, because the. If it didn't look right I'm locked in to having it done again by the painter. I did put an order in yesterday for the new tires and wheels as well as lights. I need to pick up the rivets, and I may order new rockers as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

New ride journal
So have gotten a little work in the past week. Got the body off and holes cut for lights. Got the few rusting spots knocked off and primed and painted and mounted the new wheels and tires today. Next up is to run the wiring harness for the lights and get the reducer and fuse box mounted. Then to figure out where to mount the USB charger. Then stick it all back together including the star 2 and 1 combo seat.

And she's done! Haha I hope. May end up with some heavy shocks in the back. Not sure yet. Haven't had any weight in the back yet. And I do plan to screw the fender wells up to the bumper in the back. Just haven't gotten to that point yet!

I will say that if you ever have to install one of these star 2 and 1 combo seats. The directions are terrible! And the parts don't fit worth a ****. You would think for a premium seat it would have better directions and go together easy. I had to use YouTube to figure out install.

Those wheels look great on that cart!! Nice clean build!! If you use your cart for golf like I do(I know not very common on this for :D ), I recommend one of these. A golf dash organizer. Best thing I ever bought. I can keep balls, tees, gloves, bandaids, cell phone in the locking part. Great thing to have in your cart and they come in several finishes.

Re: New ride journal
Thanks for the heads up on the dash. I think I'm going to keep a nice clean look. Only thing I ever keep in cart is key. I play all over so I store whatever I need in a storage cabinet and get out things for that particular round. I am going to be buying a Bluetooth speaker but unsure of which to buy. And not sure exactly where I want to mount it yet.

Re: New ride journal
Looks great, and the seats tie in the top color nicely.
For a BT speaker, I use a JBL Flip 3. Its waterproof, and fits in a cupholder if need be. Plenty loud and good sound quality. And the BT range is pretty decent too. |
