Default 2007 EZGO TXT PDS (First Cart)

Hi guys. So the wife and 3 kids and I decided we wanted a cart to add to our camping experiences. We looked around and found them to be much pricier than we thought. From all our weeks of looking it seemed that to get a decent older cart we had to spend $2000-$2500. If we wanted a nicer not so old cart you were looking at $2500-$3500. And very nice newer carts were in the $3500+ range. Everything heavily tricked was $4500-$7000 and on up depending on year. We ended up finding this one fairly local from a 64 year old couple who kept all there stuff immaculate. and we all liked it a lot. It is a 2007 EZGO TXT PDS, with a Jakes 6" lift, 12" Rhox wheels, 23" Rhox tires, fender flares, black seats (flip down rear), black top, aftermarket steering wheel, charge gauge, light kit, tinted front windshield, rear view mirror, brush guard and a perfect condition custom USA/Camo airbrushed paint scheme. It is 36 volt which is the only downside I guess. Batteries were new in September 2013. I hydrometer tested them after a good charge and all cells were right in the middle of the fair range. Sounded about right to me for almost 4 year old batteries. We gave $3750. Did we do OK? Seemed like a fair price and maybe even a little on the deal side to me from what we looked at for weeks? What do you all think? Thank you all!

4 Year old batteries? They are pretty well at their end of life. What brand are they? You could be looking at spending another lump of $ on new batts.

September will be 4 years yes. I have heard from a reputable local dealer, Trojan who I called for info, multiple cart owners that I know personally, and read plenty of stories online that say name brand "WELL MAINTAINED" batteries can go as far as 6-7 years commonly and 8-9 years uncommonly. The dealership owner specifically is the one who told me the longest lasting set he ever personally seen was 9 years ,but over 6 years is fairly common on "WELL MAINTAINED" batteries. Obviously 9 is crazy rare and probably once in a lifetime BUT not unheard of. Also I realize that some sets, no matter brand or level of maintenance, can go earlier than 5, but from what I hear that is also uncommon. Mine came from a very particular 64 year old couple and were reasonably well maintained. I say reasonably because the cart was not in climate storage year round ....so....but he did make sure the plates were always covered and they were always charged as to never freeze. I know I can get another year out of them as I'm particular also. I am hoping (praying ;)) for 2 but am prepared for 1. It will be climate stored year round now and monitored regularly. If I don't get 2 years then I'll just buy a new set which I believe will last me over 6, or I will do my best to get them there at least. I bought it anyways thinking that it should have been priced around $4500 with brand new batteries. So I feel even if I do have to purchase new batteries in a year I should be able to get most if not all of my money back if I sold it anyways. Which we keep stuff forever so I don't care anyways as long as I didn't over pay for something. I rode it yesterday for 10 miles non stop all over the place at varying speeds and all terrains. That is good enough for camping I think.

Here, Carts at that standard range from $2500 - $4500. It's all about getting that right person too look at it. I looked at one similar to the options that one has, with 2 yr old trojans for $2800.00 The only real difference is the one I looked at had the extended top with full canopy.

If the batts do die sooner than later, I would consider changing over to Lithium and then you wouldn't have to worry about it batts for a very very long time.

Does your cart have any upgrades to the controller, motor etc?

It does not have any controller upgrades that I was informed about. The yellow jumper plug is all it has. Between that and the 23" tires though it does go 20mph exactly ☺️. I've not heard about lithiums for golf carts but I will definitely be looking into them now. Thanks for the heads up. Yeah around here a cart like this one for $2800 is a pipe dream at best, or stolen. Especially with 2 year old batteries. I would by them all up and sell them for an easy $1000 profit each in Ohio if I was you.

How much are the lithiums? I'm sure that mod requires a new charger?

From what I've seen on the forums, there is a range on price from about $1100 - $2000. Most of them were around $1400 - $1500. I believe that this price includes the charger.

However, they last about 10-20x longer than FLA batts.
