85' Columbia Build
OK, here we go. So I’ve been in the process of rebuilding an 85’ Columbia gas cart for the past month or so, and I guess I better start documenting this somewhere.
I bought the cart this time last year for $700. Just something to give the kids rides on and scoot around town on. It smoked a little when I got it and had a bunch of crap in the gas tank. So I cleaned the tank and the Carb out, added new gas mixed with the correct amount of oil and it ran pretty good. Still had a little of a back fire issue, and had to mess with the choke to keep it running right, but we made it thru the fall. Here are some pics of the Cart in its original condition. |

Re: 85' Columbia Build
About a month ago I was going to give the cart a paint job, so I started removing all of the body pieces. One thing led to another and I ended up completely taking it down to the frame. Took the frame to the sandblasters and had it blasted and primed. Repainted the entire frame and have slowly been piecing it back together.

Re: 85' Columbia Build
Currently I’ve got all of the suspension put back in, and wheels back on. I just got the motor back together after replacing the crankcase seals, and hopefully will have it back in the cart this weekend.
I expected this to be a time suck, but man this taking a lot of man hours to put it back together the way that I want. And add on top of it, kids back in school, volleyball and soccer practice/games. I’m definitely ready for beer-thirty to roll around today. |

Re: 85' Columbia Build
Finally got time to get engine back together, and installed back in the cart. Completely cleaned and reinstalled the carburetor. Still need to find a new belt for the starter/generator.

85' Columbia Build
Does anyone have any advice on how to correctly adjust the snubber bar?
