1992 Cub Car DS 36 Volt... The cart is just the start
First off I would like to say thank you to this site for all the knowledge of being able to trouble shoot most of my own issues up until this point.
a few months back I picked up a set of Club Cars for $275 off of craigslist. My initial plan was to try and get them both going and sell them off and purchase a gas powered CC for neighborhood use. The stats on the carts were a 1992 36V CC and a 1999 48V CC. The 92 was in much better shape than the 99. We have a beach located in the neighborhood with a boat launch and the plan was to have a cart to run the wife and kid back and forth if needed but also to pull a stand up jetski back and forth a few times a year. Both carts were missing batteries and the running condition was unknown. I decided to pursue the 36 V first. After purchasing batters from Diamond batteries in Flint, MI. and spending several hours chasing wires and limit switches the cart finally came to life. |

Re: 1992 Cub Car DS 36 Volt... The cart is just the start
After discovering that the 36 V cart did a measly 10mph it was time to make some decisions. I decided to sell the 48 V cart and use the money to upgrade the 36 V cart.
First off was Wheels and tires... buying new is $$$$. I found a used set of 22" tires and steel wheel on craigslist local for $200. Bought some fancy hub caps to up the appeal. Ordered a double A arm GTW lift kit and pit it all together. After the lift kit, the cart went 12mph and still had decent amount of torque. Where it lacked was when two people were aboard and climbing long hills. as always...more speed and power was needed |

Re: 1992 Cub Car DS 36 Volt... The cart is just the start
After doing much reading and researching on this site I decided to place a order with ScottyB. I am very glad I did this due to his awesome shipping skills and technical support response time. I ordered Scottys Package #485. This comes with the 500 amp Alltrax controller and 400 amp HD solenoid. I figured this package paired with my previously upgraded 2 AWG wires would handle my torque needs for now and be compatible with the 48 V upgrade if I decide to do so down the line.
For Speed I ordered the Admiral 10HP MOT A-1. Assembly of both the controller and motor were about as easy as it gets. 3 bolts for the motor and a extra set of hands and it slid right into place. the controller mounted nicely in the stock location with the replacement of the existing bolts provided with the kit. After finally getting a chance to take it out for a spin I achieved 17MPH top speed and plenty of uphill torque power to maintain speed when faced with long hills. I didn't achieve the advertised 25mph like I was hoping, however I am still very pleased with the results (maybe 48volts will help ). Next up... Paint and seat covers |

Nice cart and smokin' deal on the pair Junkman! Scotty is THE man for what that cart needs. You'll be very happy pushing 48v to that combination!

I started with a 92 DS. With Scotty's kit I was pushing 25 mph to the stock 36v motor on 48v worth of batteries. Then I dropped a plum quick rattle snake II in and get to 30 in a hurry with pedal to spare!

"once I start spending money on a hobby its hard to stop" I hear ya on that one for sure! I was happy with the 36v motor until I build a cart for my dad with a D&D ES-81 motor. It was all she wrote after that, so I dropped the 750 on the PQ motor just to beat him. It truly is an addiction!
