First Ride 14' CC Precedent -- First Thoughts
I have enjoyed reading the forums and I finally picked up a ride. It is a former fleet cart from a Hilton Head area golf course. Serial# PH1404. I got it cheap. It has 2015 CC batteries that have around 75-80% of their capacity. The battery area is clean and well maintained. Batteries had right amount of water no corrosion. I got 5 miles of continuous riding today up down the hilly roads in my neighborhood before reaching 50% of battery capacity. It still has the OBC in tact and came with a Power Drive 3 charger. One tire seems poorly balanced and is a different brand than the other three. Other than that, it seems strong and I think I will get about a year out of the batteries.
We will use it to tour the campgrounds we visit in our RV. Here is my plan to improve it. I will have to do this as I save up the money for the upgrades. Your ideas and thoughts are appreciated. First I will do all the free things to maintain it: wash, remove stickers, wax, lube the fittings, and change the gearbox oil. Upgrades to purchase in order: 1. folding windshield DOT approved because I want to make it a LSV. 2. Upgrade sped to level 4 and get Bandit PH upgrade motor (I assume I need to get the programming to the most out of the Bandit motor) 3. MadJax 300 rear seat and leaf springs 4. 4" lift kit and 20x12 AT tires and wheels 5. Add full lighting kit 6. Finish the cosmetics, body paint, dash, and sound system as time and money allow New batteries will fit in wherever I am in the list when these finally give up the ghost. Attached are a couple of pictures. If you have any experiences you would like to share I would love to hear them. Thanks. IMG-1757.jpg img-2.jpg |

Nice clean find... Start saving for new batteries.
First 145 I've seen with the OBC. All the others I've seen had the Eric charger and no OBC. |

Yep, that is an early 2014 production model, Club Car Precedent Excel cars manufactured from October 2013 to present have E.R.I.C. systems (2014 production year started in August 2013).

Looks like they were clearing out excess inventory for the fleet model sales. Good cart, none the less.
I for one am so glad to see CC leaving the charging to the charger again |

I was surprised when I got to see the car that it was an old style OBC. Given the batteries have held up so well and the charging is working, I don't see the need to spend money on a smart charger just now. I am hoping to milk the batteries for the summer camping season. My first desire is to increase the speed economically. I assume getting the speed code 4 programmed is the first step. Can that be done remotely by computer or do I have to take it in to a local dealer? Next, by purchasing the Bandit PH motor upgrade I will be in the 25-27 mph range with everything else stock. That puts me in the LSV range and below the MSV range. Any feedback on this line of thought? Would 20" wheels increase that speed? I hope to finish all but the cosmetics by the end of the fall camping season. Painting and the interior upgrades would be good to work on in the garage over the next winter. |

I'm glad you know all this stuff. Good info. Unfortunately, here in Augusta there are so many prototype carts around here you never know what you're gonna find. I've seen several 2003 Precedents and several early 2013 cars with PH serial numbers, and ERIC chargers. All experimental, but they get sold locally and can really cause a problem if you don't know what you're looking for.

I have to have your controller in my possession and installed in a cart to be able to program speed codes. Another option would be to rent my scanner to you and you could do it yourself. That would be fine with me as well. Just let me know if you’re interested. Reprogramming the controller is not necessary to get full potential of the bandit motor. The PH Bandit motor for Excel Cars is very fast and that may be the best bang for your buck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
