Default Yamaha G1 "Go-Cart"

For years I've wanted a golf cart. Finally found one a month ago!
It runs and drives great (steering is a bit loose though). Looks however, not so much. I saw through the ugliness to a good solid machine with endless possibilities. I've already spent about $1500 in my head..lol. One step at a time
Hopefully in time it'll rank right up there with all them cool rides.

I can't wait to really start on it. So cold right now. I'm going to try to budget myself to approximately $300/month for goodies. At least my home is pages for, and plenty of food in the freezer and cupboard, just in case I go overboard....lol.
I've got my lift kit, tires/wheels, and a few other parts picked out.

Congrats! Welcome to the forum!

I would recommend telling what you plan to use the cart for and your planned upgrades. Folks on here will give advice on what to expect as well as advice on upgrades to go with or skip. Folks here certainly helped me! I would have spent money on things that would not have been good for my purposes.

I'm planning on the Jake's 5" lift kit, aluminum 10x7 offset wheels (have 2-3 styles in mind), 22x11.00-10 off-road tires (thinking Swamp Witch) all around.
Will be used for some off-road play, snow play, etc. Will be my alternate wheelchair, so to speak. It won't see much, if any, road use. Just a fun ride around our population 250 metropolis now and then. It's gonna take a couple months or so, but it will be well worth it in the end. Hopefully get it to where my big, ok, I lied, my huge 400lb body to fit behind the wheel. I've got several ideas, but still open to suggestion. Not only for seating, but all other aspects of my build.
I have seen some super cool ideas on here already. I'm gonna like it here.

verify the year of the cart before ordering parts. I think 79-81 used different spindles? and the lifts wont fit properly. 82 is the odd ball but still a good cart.

Thanks for the heads up. I remember reading somewhere there were some oddballs out there. Hopefully this weekend I can be in the garage and verify the year. -20° a little chilly for me.lol.

Welcome to the site. G1s are great carts. I have two of them. A J17 serial number is the oddball. There's an adjustment on the steering gear box to remove some slop. If an adjustment won't take care of it, you can pack the steering box with grease to remove some play.
