New guy with a 96 Ez-go, built from the ground up! (56k may struggle)
Hey everyone, been lurking on the forum a while now and just decided to register.
What i have is a 96 ez-go golf cart, i'm not sure what kind is as i have never seen it before, i was told it was an agriculture cart, but i dont know. (maybe you guys do??????) So anyways, this is how the cart looked after i got it.... this was a major clean up, i didnt get any pics after i just got it. At this time, the cart did not run, and the problem was unknown..... we ended up figuring out what it needed, had to do a full tune up on it and replace everything.. getting parts for it was very easy for me i know a mechanic who works for a distribution center.... i learned the parts are pretty transferable (club car and ezgo parts that is). HAHA. So for a few months i went into to complete overhaul mode, and just started lining up everything and making parts fit with some adjustments.... Here is how it looks today. It has a clubcar front push bar.. i drilled holes in the side of the cart and made it fit. (bottom bars need to be cut still, and that gap needs to be filled in with something???????) 2 hella 500 headlights Paint is a flat black truck bed coating spray my dad and I re-did the upholstry on the seat with waterproof boat vinyl The roof and roof mounts are from a club car carryall model and the bed has the "do it yourself" herculiner on it. It came out tough! I thought it would be fun to do the all black "murdered" out look on this cart because all the other people in my community with carts all have flames on them.. Heres some more pics and finally, on the inside, i want to install a radio in the compartment and add some 6x9 speakers in the cubby boxes. has anyone done it before? i think it would be kinda cool to have music in it.. but im kind of lost on where to begin with it! As for the motor, its getting there! my dad just readjusted all of the valves, most were loose, so the motor is getting stronger it still needs adjustments somewhere because it backfires sometimes when it is engine breaking, the motor just does not sound very perfect like the ones i drive at work.. any advice would be great on what to look at next for the motor... also any feedback on the cart would great, what should i do next? lift it or bag it? I dont know! i want to try and get a radio in it first. Thanks for looking! Kevin |

The backfire is usually the throttle not closing completely as the motor is turned off by the foot pedal. There a screw on the carb for that. Loosen it to allow full closure of the throttle flapper.
That looks like a marathon style "workhorse". They didn't make a whole lot of the diamond plate units. It was probably for a special spec for air port or military bases or something. The year that you have should be a medalist, but the nose is different than the medalist.. Check the numbers in the passenger glove box. We can usually ID from that. With the stealth look from the black, I would raise it. The long wheelbase makes them bottom out early. |

Welcome!
It's not a Medalist, it's a Marathon based utility cart. The year could be correct as they dragged on the Marathon utility cart line for a few years after the Medalist and TXT came out. Perhaps EZ-Go had a surplus of frames and parts to consume. |

I think your cart is a GXT 800. They are the same as the Jacobsen 810 ( except for color)which I have. They were used at golf courses as utility vehicles. Mine is a 94
There are at least 2 different styles of tailgates I know of. They mount on the box different. I have a complete box & tailgate for sale. Don't want to sell just the tailgate. |

Post a pic of the front axle and spring connections..... we can see which front end you have...Is there no ID tag in the passenger glove box?
