Default My Yamaha G8 restore

So, in August I wound up with two golf carts witha new property I bought. Within a week I was just addicted to these things. one is a 1999 Yamaha in metalic orange. brother in law did some basic repairs and slapped a set of rims on it and it was done.

But the other was a g8 with some needs. This was a G8 electric with a RUSTED frame, original dash in rough shape, no floor mats, etc. So I started by peeling the body off, pulling all the batteries, scraping, wheeling etc, and repainting all the rusted spots:

Then got excited and cleaned and painted stuff not rusted :-)

with that happy aprt done put in a new floor pad. Got rubber flooring on a roll and cut it all to fit, drilled new holes and used black sheet metal screws to attach:

Then tossed a new front bumper on, and wired up some new lights, My idea here is to have two switches iun series. One will power the front lights and when it is set to ON, then have a second switch that can power on Orage LEDs under the cart (Orange boddy so Orange LEDs)

Anyway, waiting on new rockers, carbon fiber dash, steering wheel etc. Maybe even a controller :-)

Will keep updating thread as I get pics.

Special thanks to Groundpounder for the input on dash issues for the g8!

Paint already is an orange with black stripes, going to buff it up etc, but no real mods, thinking about a half-windshield but havent decided yet. New steering wheel, and dash with some cool switches and what not but that is all that is planned (along with new 12" rims and lo profiles)

OK. Updated pics.

Needed to sit the body back on to make sure everything lined up on the front end (new bumper lights etc) Still waiting for the Carbon Fiber dash and new black rockers, trim and rear bumper parts, but **** she is coming together:

body on just waiting to tighten down...

Really need som rims. cant wait till the 12"s with Lo Pro's come in. hope the chrome and black rims will pull the black on the body out some, then the aluminum trim that goes on top the black rockers will be polished to bring out the chrome some

The front is a couple of small BRIGHT lights sitting on a square tube bumper. The driver wheel still shows all the garbage rolling around my garage...

From the back, that metal is coming off and being replaced (its junK) also getting a new bumer cover and debating on the bag well liner, might go spray in there!

Its all fun!
