My new Strech cart
I just got back from a 6 hour road trip. The last 100 miles I blew a brake line on the truck so we just kept driving and PRAYED that no one stopped quickly.. LOL
Anyhow here are the first few pictures of it when we rolled it in the garage. I will have some more pictures and questions as soon as I get into it and get it cleaned up. It is Strech cart built in 2006 with custom paint and a 24 HP honda with stock exhaust. But First question... It has a 24 HP honda motor and it surges. Really difficult to drive and actually dangerous when in a tight situation. Can you lead me in the right direction.. Does it have a governor? or are they disconnected? I assume it just needs the carb rebuilt but I want to make sure. Right now at WOT it will only turn 3400 RPM. IS that right it didn't seem much faster than my old 88 marathon with an old 2 stroke motor |

Re: My new Strech cart
yes strech had to govern the honda motors.. a $20.00 spring in the linkage and a $75.00 new drive belt and then make sure it runs no more that 4800 rpm and you should be good for 30 mph ..
great looking great |

Re: My new Strech cart
You got to "learn" how to drive those things Light on the foot - in fact a little "foot pump" will get her rolling. There are probably some ill adjusted govenor linkages, and as Randy said, still has the stock spring and belt. Did this cart have the header and intake, or stock muffler and stock airbox?

Re: My new Strech cart
Hey guys thanks I knew it wasn't much. It has a stock muffler and stock air box. The belt looks really loose but I am not sure which one is on the cart. I will get the number when I tear it apart to clean it up.
And if all possible can I get some power out of this thing and keep it quiet? 2nd question do I take the governor spring all the way off like a go cart with an old 5 horse or is it too easy to over rev it? O and I need to lift the rear end a bit to make it sit level. It rubs the fenders with weight on it. Is there a simple fix or can I move the top shock mounts so they sit more vertical? And FYI I can fab and weld with ease so Just asking for convenience. Thanks |

Re: My new Strech cart
Does it have the real coil suspension? If so, That's what I was telling you about on the phone, you would be best to go back to a leaf spring setup IMO...
The govenor spring is weak on the stock Honda. We've made ours from Club Car rear brake springs. I've also seen people eliminate the spring and use a bent piece of metal rod. BEFORE you do it, you MUST get the MAX II Kevlar drive belt Wicked was talking about... |

Re: My new Strech cart
Well I was tearing it down tonight and fund some wierd stuff.
The brakes were dragging so bad on the right side that I couldn't turn it by hand when jacked up. I adjusted them. Then I started rewiring it. The ignition has a toggle switch and then the key start it but the key switch can't turn it off. And the lights were all jacked up. So I will report back when I get it all wired up. Should I wire the headlights in with the key switch? And what about a lift kit for the rear? Can I change the shock angle without effecting the geometry. |

the toggle is the kill switch and not lights on the key switch also theres nothing to do for the rear.... if you change the angel of the shocks the rear binds... |

Re: My new Strech cart
I don't know why it has a toggle? It has a key switch that has on and then start. So can't the toggle switch be wired into the key so that the first position which is on is like flipping the toggle switch and then start is still start?
WOW this is confusing when typing it all out. And about the rear end I guess I will have to build a spacer plate to move the top shock mount plate down. Or move the bottom shock mounts up off of the axle. I will get it all measured up and see if you guys think it will work |
