Default Overhaulin a '95 EZGO Medalist

Figured I could start the documentation on my '95 Medalist. To bring you up to speed, my wife has been asking for a cart for a couple of years and oddly enough I wasn't for it. End of Oct I asked my dad to be on the lookout for a "reasonable" cart. Called me an hour later and said he had one, but it would need new batteries. I asked how much for the cart, he said "FREE!" How could I go wrong?

He gave it a quick wash with the power sprayer, loaded on a trailer and took it to get the batteries put in. That when the fun started! The batteries came out, and the shop couldn't put them back in because the tray was so rusted. That's when we started to question if we should keep it, or look for a newer cart. After going back & forth for a week, dad & I decided to rebuild it as a "father-son project".

The cart was in pretty good shaped overall. Main rust was the battery tray and some light surface rust in a number of other places.

Dissassembled almost the entire cart. This cart was COVERED in mud and hadn't been cleaned in years. Cleaned the brakes out. Scraped & sanded rust on the frame, springs, etc. Primed all the rusty areas.

I've been in a wheelchair nearly 20 years (broke neck at 15) and have always wanted to rebuild a Muscle car with my dad, so figured this was the next best thing we could do together. I wanted to do a lot of the work on it as well, so I took on the sanding while dad took everything apart.

Sanded the rough spots on the body & filled in the "spike guard holes" on rear fender. Used a "steel putty" found in Home Depot. It worked very well for the metal body. For $3.00 it was worth it!

looking good, got a metalis also that Im reworking, are you going to leave the front end metalist or change it to TXT style front? Did mine to the TXT style front cowl and like the looks of it. Still have alot of plans for mine ,lift kit, tires, paint , engine rebuilt, and the list goes on LOL the G2 I did a couple of years ago.

Paint color is "Metallic Cobalt Blue" by Rust-Oleum.

I have already started painting all of the undercarriage & inside of body/cowl Rustoleum Glossy Black.
