Smile Western Elegante Build

Alright my neighbor is moving and sold me this Western Elegante, its in poor shape does not run has body damage and interior is rough, but the good thing is i got it for 200 bucks, i have already started tearing it down, i read on this board that western is out of business so i have got to restore alot of stuff on it, this cart is pretty cool has a cooler between the seats, it has a nice chassis under it. My neighbor got this cart threw a trade and knows nothing of its current condition. Here is my initial worry list.

1. Headlight and tail lights obsolete and in rough shape
2. Wiring intact but old
3. Batteries look newer who knows
4. 36 volt charger dont work
5. Fiberglass repair
I would appreciate any ideas on the rebuild of this unit
here is some pics, i'm a complete idiot on golf carts, but i work on and restore cars all the time so i'm game for anything its just new territory for me
heres my pics.
I have missing hubcap for rear tire

Batteries look newer anything look out of place?

This is the worst damage i think i can fix it but the head and tail light trim
is dry rotted and that has me really worried!!!!!!!!! Any Suggestions???

This little hole made a home for alot of birds see pic below for the nest

Thanks Again for anyones advice on restoring this jewel

All the front fascia trim (grille, headlamps, parking lamps) looks like standard automotive stuff.. It looks very similar to the front end parts for the early 80's Ford "Fox" platform mid-size cars (LTD II, Marquis, Mark VII, Thunderbird, Cougar).. I'd also look at some of the mid to late 80's Chrysler "K" car models, some of the "luxury" trim levels had a similar setup around the headlamps..

That'll be a sharp looking ride once it's restored to it's former glory..

Yeah i can't wait to get it back on the road, the headlights are smaller than a normal car i hope they are off something that is still available that would be awesome, any help on tracking them down would be great.

if you pull the headlight it should have a number (either on the back or side). take that number and or the headlight to the auto parts store and they will have it

The charger may not be bad? The charger requires a min. amount of voltage/amps to turn on.
Some of the sparkie guy's can give you better info

Good luck

Has anyone ever lifted one of those? That would be different.

Good point ESS
Clean and tighten all connections, charge the batteries 2 at a time with a 12 volt charger and then try the 36 volt charger.

Lift kits are available (remember it is based on a Marathon E-Z-GO frame when ordering), but I would question the use of one based solely on the wheel wells. You would have to cut them in order to fit larger tires under the cart. might alter the look more than you want it to......
