Against Doctors orders I had to get back on this build.
1. I now have all the "new" 4-link bars made. Not bad for a home spun polishing job on them. 2. Moved both shock mounts in-board 1/2 inch for additional clearance issues. 3. Ground all welds and smoothed them up. 4. Primered and painted the rear end housing. 5. Cleaned up the two aluminum ends for the motor. 6. Hung the rear end back under the roadster. Big difference between the initial install and the cleaned up pics. It does not look like a whole lot, but it sure was a lot of work to get it this clean. Now waiting on the new brushes and replacement studs to rebuild the motor, but at least now I can roll this thing around if I need to. When I get to finish the motor rebuild I will make the new panhard bar. |

Yea as a matter of fact there is.
I now have about 50 ft of alumin welding wire in the trash, a mig welder that the welding wand grew wings and went flying across the garage. A bad additude that won't go away (must be something to do with the idiot son-in-law coming for the week end) I did get the passenger side almost straightened out from the last post with the primer on and showing all the spots that need fixed. I got the brushes and replacement studs in but did not want to touch them for fear that they too might grow wings and create an access hole for moskeedos in one of the windows in my garage. Now Dave back at ya! How's yours coming? |

Thanks. My weekend did wind up better. IDIOT WENT HOME!!!!
Really I got the new studs installed the way Dave told me to, using a terminal end. I soldiered them on and put the motor back together on Sunday. Today I pulled the rear end out again and mounted the motor back on the rear end, made the new panhard bar (and polished it) and put the rear end back in by my self. Idiot was too busy sleeping and stuffing his face. So now I am back to the basic build. I didn't have enough brass nuts for the studs so I used steel ones next to the insulators on two studs. Now I need to get some more #4 wire and ends and finish running the remaining ele, big wires and small wires both. I need more Bondo to work on the smoothing of the body some more. And I need another bottle of ARGON to finish welding on the body and body supports. Talked to my brother in law today about painting it for me and he said $700. He does good work, he better he owns a colission repair business...LOL. So yea things are happening but not worth the pics effort. Thanks again to all who still view and follow this build and to those who have helped with suggestions, advice, parts, and the occational shoulder to cry on. |

OK!!! Can you say DUH!!!
![]() Before you go down to your local auto parts store and buy those $3.50 per foot #4 cables (like I did) you might check with your local welding supply store. I had to get my argon bottle filled today so while I was there I thought I would price the #4 ground cable there. $1.29 per foot. (DUH GOES HERE!) So I bought 30 more feet of #4 cable, 20 terminal ends and a bottle of argon for less than what I paid for the first 30 feet of #4 cable I bought to start the wiring. Dumb A$$. |

$1.29 is pretty reasonable for 4ga. As a dealer, I pay about $0.93-0.95 per foot for high grade, flexible, chemical resistant 4ga wire. About $2.68 per foot for 0ga. I run 2/0 in some of my autos, and planned to do 0ga for the battery pack in my own cart. Mainly because I already have about 10 pre-made cables from one of my other gadgets (car audio).
The little stuff sure adds up fast! |
