Default I fabricated my own radio console & fender flares

I wanted to mount my radio under the top for the best protection from the weather, but wasn't real happy with the manufactured Plastic consoles. So I went out and did some measuring, and found out, I had the space to mount a radio, as long as the radio was only 2" thick. Well I happened to have just the radio, and below is how it turned out.

The next project was fender flares. You can't tell from the pictures, but they cover all the tire except for about 1". I did this to keep the strength, and not get hung up on some limb, or bush.

Thanks!
I'm pretty sure the thickness on the Diamond plate was 26 or 29ga.
As for the cost. I went by a utility trailer plant close to the house to buy some, and they sold me a piece 24" X 48" from thier scap pile for $10.00.
I've done all kinds of things with that one piece of diamond plate.

I suspect you'd have some buyers if you decided to make and sell those as a kit. Very nice.

The metal I used was 29ga Dimond Plate.

Top measurement is 39-1/2" you want at least 1/4" set back on both sides from the outside of the roof. That is the size I needed. Check your roof it might be different.

You can screw the front side (windshield) just about any depth, just make sure you leave at least 10" for your radio to slide back into the mounting area.

When cutting the corners. I used a piece of heavy cardboard to make my corner template.

I used a friends metal brake (used for bending metal or siding) for the bends.

DO ALL YOUR BENDS BEFORE CUTTING OUT FOR RADIO.

Drill your holes on the front ( 1/2" area) to match flat areas of your roof. All the other holes can be drilled before mounting.

All the outside edges are covered with Door Edge Guard, which can be purchased at you local auto parts store.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anymore help.
