Default The G1 Limo

Hello everyone, I've been lurking here for some time and seeing what everyone is doing has inspired me to tackle my own project. I found a G1 stretch at a local Country Club. Paid $375. It's was mechanically sound and I'm in the process tearing it down to do a front end swap to a G16 cowl. I'm also putting a Jakes 6" lift on with 22's on 10" rims.

This is the cart this summer with the inlaws,my oldest daughter and neice and nephew. More to come as I get to understand the posting picture thing.

Sorry for some reason the pics did show up last night. Do you know what kind of motor it has. I would think the little 2 stroke would have trouble with larger loads.

4x4CC - No i'm not sure of the motor size, but I have had 6+ adults on it and it pulls with no trouble and with no governor adjustments. I did determine tonight that it is an 1989 model.

Here are a few more pics of the progress--

You notice that the person who stretched the cart previously, just cut the rockers never reinforced them. They were covered with some thin steel U-channnel. I plan on replacing the rockers with some 1x3 boxed steel and releveling the floor, which was an inch lower in the middle than the original frame members.

Hope everyone enjoys the pics and Thanks for warm welcome.

Chris

That's the oil reservoir, you don't have to mix the oil and gas. Well not yet anyway. I haven't been through a whole tank of gas yet, but you can smell it in the exhaust (the rear facing passengers) anyway.

Sorry, missed the first question. As far as I know this is the original motor that came in the cart. I don't know if the person or company that stretched it did any mods to it. It was used as a valet cart for a country club to run the guys back and forth when they were parking cars. So I assume the purchased it as is and didn't modify it in house.

Stretch660 you'll be surprised what the old G1's will pull or carry. The G1 I have used to pull a race car up and down the track getting it started. And thats with 4 big guys on it plus a large toolbox full of tools. I have used it here to pull cars out of my field with it and most of them had flat tires. Now that was before I started to lift it and larger wheels and tires. It looked just like your except it wasn't stretched.
Good Luck with your new toy my friend.
