Other than the 8v batteries may be a little heavier overall and might last a little longer, they have no advantages from a specification standpoint.
The 6x12v set up is easier to locate the batteries, easier to charge with an automotive charger if your charger breaks down, less battery cables and connections and easier to use for accessory connections if you don't use a converter.
The 12v set up may be a few lbs lighter than the 8v set up and will theoretically be faster, keep the weight between the front and rear wheels and easier on the suspension.

Clearing the gas fumes from my head I will jump
in. 6/12 is 33% fewer connections and if cheaper
you won't feel obligated to running them till you are
frustrated by shortened run times. Butt what do I know.

I hoped we would hear from somebody who has run 72v and could report their findings.

9 eight volts will give you more run time than 6 12's.Chevy if you saw my cart at pageland I have ran 54 miles on a full charge at around 20 mph.Same cart with 6 12's will run around 30 miles.

True but it also depends on which batteries, their condition and the AH ratings of the 12v were you using? The US Battery 12v is a floor scrubber battery rated at 292 minutes at 25 amps. No one on this site that I know of has any experience with the US Battery 12v scrubber battery but the specs place them with the same AH rating as the 9x8v Trojan T-875's.
No disrespect here, just questions.
